S. Ann Earon, President of Telemanagement Resources International Inc. (TRI)
In 1982, S. Ann Earon founded TRI, a management consulting firm specializing in marketing, communications, and training with an emphasis on market research, assessment, design, implementation, and project management of videoconferencing systems.
Prior to forming TRI, Ann was employed in sales and marketing positions within the Bell System -- specializing in international market management, training, and advertising and promotions. She began working in teleconferencing in 1974, with the introduction of the Portable Conference Telephone. In 1978, she was on a special assignment, as part of her doctoral program, to study the Bell System Executive Communications Centers throughout the United States. These Centers were the forerunners to AT&T's Picturephone Meeting Service rooms.
In 1982, Ann was the only female representative on a 72 member United States Trade Commission tour to Japan to help open the Japanese market to foreign telecommunications entities. She has also worked on the strategic planning, needs assessment, design, and implementation of videoconferencing systems for many organizations including: Air Products and Chemicals, General Electric, IBM, Johnson & Johnson, and the U.S. Air Force, Army, and Navy. From 1990 to 1994, she was responsible for project management, promotions, and training for the implementation of a worldwide videoconferencing network for Johnson & Johnson. In this assignment she interfaced with executives, PTTs, and integrators in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Europe, and the Asia/Pacific regions and traveled to each location to ensure successful implementation.
Ann is chairperson of the Interactive Multimedia & Collaborative Communications Alliance (IMCCA), a member of the teleconferencing Hall of Fame, and is the former chairperson of the Strategic Planning Committee, the Teletraining Special Interest Group, the Program Committee, and the Operations Directorate of the International Teleconferencing Association (ITCA). She holds numerous debating and public speaking awards, and is frequently cited in, or contributes to, many publications.
Dr. Earon is a graduate of Colby College, holds a masters degree in Instructional Technology and Educational Administration from Northeastern University, and a Ph.D. from Boston College with majors in business, speech & communications, and education. As part of her dissertation, Adoption of Videoconferencing In Education and Business, she surveyed colleges, universities, and Fortune 500 companies and reported on their video applications and the networks supporting them.
Spencer Freund, TRI Senior Consultant and Associate Vice President for Administration - Telecommunications, California State University, Sacramento
Spencer Freund has been a Senior Consultant at TRI since 1994. In this capacity he has worked with TRI on a number of customer assessments. His experience at California State University as chief telecommunications officer responsible for planning, managing, and integrating telecommunications resources allows him to bring a wealth of information to any project. He is a board member of the major educational consortium in the Sacramento areas and is most familiar with pedagogy and curriculum requirements used in elementary and secondary education environments.
Mr. Freund holds a B.F.A. from New York Institute of Technology with a major in Communications Art and a minor in Electrical Engineering, a M.S. from Brooklyn College in Broadcasting, and has taken additional studies at New York University towards a Ed.D. program in Education Technology and Media.
John Ryan, TRI Associate and President of Rycat
In 1982, John R. Ryan and Robert C. Catalano, formed Rycat Industries, a company that specializes in the planning, design, and implementation management of television and audiovisual systems, primarily in the corporate and academic sectors. As President of Rycat Industries, Mr. Ryan is responsible for overseeing all contractual obligations, project administration, architectural/basebuilding design, and television systems analysis and design.
Mr. Ryan has been a television consulting engineer since 1967 when he joined an international communications facilities consulting firm, with offices in New York, Los Angeles, Brussels, Belgium and London.
Mr. Ryan is a graduate of Long Island Technical University. In 1968, he joined the U.S. Army Signal Corps, serving as a coordinator of strategic microwave communications systems in Viet Nam. Upon returning to the U.S., he completed his tour of duty as a graduate instructor in advanced electronics and communications at Ft. Monmouth, New Jersey.
Robert Catalano, TRI Associate and Executive Vice President of Rycat
Robert Catalano joined John Ryan in 1982 to form Rycat Industries, Inc. As Executive Vice President and director of audiovisual services, Mr. Catalano is responsible for strategic planning managing and expanding the audiovisual related project's division. He also supervises the accounting department, tracks project costs, and prepares all bid analyses.
Mr. Catalano has spent more than 19 years in the audiovisual consulting field. His expertise in every facet of the industry includes project management, design of video, audio, control, distribution, and data display systems for corporate, academic, and medical training facilities.
Before establishing Rycat Industries, Mr. Catalano was an Associate with a New York City based international communications facilities consulting firm, which employed him as a project manager and audiovisual systems design engineer for six years.
Tracey O'Hearen, Operations Manager for TRI
Tracey O'Hearen has been Operations Manager for TRI since 1988. She has twenty years experience in the telecommunications industry specializing in technical writing and course development. She holds a B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania.
